With just over 3 weeks until our kick-off event at Hybrid Ninja Academy, we wanted to share a bit more information on qualifying for the World Championships and how course finishes, and points all add up and dictate run order at the World Championships.

Run order for the FINA Speed and the FINA Endurance event at World Championships will be based on total course completions and total points.  Athlete rankings throughout the season for FINA Speed will be used to determine run order for the FINA Speed World Championships, and rankings throughout the season for FINA Endurance will be used to determine run order for the FINA Endurance World Championships. Here is a quick example to help explain:

Let’s say the following athletes qualified for the FINA Endurance World Championships with the respective season stats:

Athlete # Athlete Total Course Completions Total Endurance Points Accrued
1 Johnny Nunchucks 3 57
2 Sally Lache 3 58
3 Joseph Cannonball 2 62
4 Patricia Wallclimber 1 63
5 Sammy Salmonladder 2 62
6 Freddie Finisher 2 62

Since there is a three way tie between athletes 3, 5, & 6, these athletes will be entered into a random drawing for positioning.

Their respective run order at the FINA Endurance World Championships will be:

Run Order Athlete
1 Patricia Wallclimber
2 *Joseph Cannonball
3 *Sammy Salmonladder
4 *Freddie Finisher
5 Johnny Nunchucks
6 Sally Lache

*Random Selection due to course completions and points tie

Hope that helps clarify some things and can’t wait to see everyone out at Hybrid Ninja Academy on November 2nd & 3rd.
